Taproom Server

Squabble State is an agritourism destination on a 68-acre property in Bristol, VA with mountain views of Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina. We draw customers residing in VA, TN, and NC, as well as visitors to the region from across the US and internationally.

Role Type: Part-Time

Position Description:

Taproom Servers at Squabble State are our connection to our growing customer base.  Servers will engage with customers providing recommendations on hard cider and beer choices and ensure that customer experience meets expectations. Specifically, Taproom Servers perform the following:

  • Check IDs and ensure responsible alcohol service

  • Serve cider and beverages to guests in a friendly, efficient way

  • Educate customers on our business and beverages

  • Operate POS system and handle transactions accurately (we are a no-cash venue)

  • Keep the taproom and outdoor areas clean and organized

  • Restock inventory (kegs, cans, snacks, merch, etc.) as needed

  • Help maintain a safe, respectful environment by monitoring guest behavior and reinforcing taproom guidelines (e.g., no smoking, no outside alcohol, no disorderly conduct), escalating as needed

  • Support events and busy weekends

Ideal Candidates:

  • Friendly, welcoming and comfortable talking with guests

  • Reliable and able to work weekends and peak hours

  • Team-oriented with a strong work ethic

  • Able to stay calm and efficient during busy periods

  • Interested in craft beverage industry – but prior experience in craft beverage or restaurant industries is not required

Other Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years old

  • Comfortable standing, moving, and handling materials throughout a shift

  • Complete VA ABC’s online “Responsible Sellers & Servers: Virginia’s Program” training

Compensation:

  • We operate as a non-tipping taproom and pay a consistent wage of $18/hour

  • Guests may occasionally offer tips, but they are not expected, relied upon, or to be requested

Scheduling:

  • Scheduling is flexible within our Thursday–Sunday hours of operation

  • Shifts vary, and most team members are not expected to work all weekend
